Minocqua is located in the middle of Northern Wisconsin’s Lake Country. There are thousands of lakes, rivers, and streams that literally saturate the geography. And while it’s a popular summer destination, there’s an argument to be made that there’s even MORE to do in the cooler seasons. Whether it’s enjoying a day on the lake as you watch the fall colors turn from vibrant red to energetic orange, Minocqua is the place to be in the fall months.
Here are five ways to enjoy fall in Minocqua:

1) Leaf Peeping

With over 1,700 acres of national forest in this area, Minocqua is the perfect place to enjoy fall colors. The Minocqua Chamber offers a map where you can pick a path to venture down one of the numerous Rustic Roads.

2) Beef-A-Rama

Only in the Northwoods can you experience this annual celebration of all things beef! Grab your cow costumes and head to downtown Minocqua for some grub, a 10k/5k Rump Roast Run and Walk, live music and the legendary Beef Eating Contest. Unfortunately, the 2020 Beef-A-Rama has been canceled, but make sure to mark your calendars for September 25, 2021!

3) The Waters Resort

The Waters of Minocqua offers 106 guest rooms and is the only full-service lodging option in the area. This Northwoods favorite has all the amenities you would get if you were in a big city. Complete with a full-service bar and restaurant, coffee shop and indoor-outdoor waterpark, The Waters is the perfect family getaway. The waterpark features a play area, basketball hoops, aquatic games and kiddie slides. Not a guest? Not a problem! The waterpark offers day passes to the public.

4) Grouse Hunting

Ruffed grouse are one of the most popular game birds to hunt. Minocqua’s dense, natural areas are ideal for hunting, and hunters looking for ruffed grouse know to head right to The Northern Highland-American Legion State Forest.

5) Fishing

Known as the “Island City,” Minocqua is literally surrounded by water. Countless lakes, rivers and streams make this place a fishing paradise!
